2006 – Resolution Reaffirming our Position of Biblical Separation

WHEREAS some who identify themselves as “Fundamentalists” are causing unwarranted damage to the Church of Jesus Christ by practices which violate Biblical separation;

AND WHEREAS some of these “Fundamentalists” tolerate and affiliate with unbelievers and/or disobedient believers, thus causing divisions and diatribes over personal preferences rather than standing firm in doctrinal purity;

AND WHEREAS some display intolerance, and with a flippant lack of discernment regarding militant Biblical separation, fail to demonstrate Godly compassion and sorrow toward fellow brethren, making them inconsistent with God Himself and His Word (2 Cor. 10:1-3; Eph. 4:15; Phil. 3:17,18)

AND WHEREAS their unethical behavior, political maneuvering, materialism and the toleration of immorality are too often associated with Fundamentalism;

AND WHEREAS others have chosen to “have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness,” but refuse to openly and verbally “reprove” those self-same works, thus they condemn themselves to compromise by attempting to maintain a position without actively campaigning for it (Eph. 5:11);

BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that we, the members of the Independent Baptist Fellowship of North America, meeting in Lancaster, Pennsylvania June 20-22, 2006, continue standing for separation as “a clear principle of Scripture, practiced by Baptists who believe the fundamentals of the faith” prohibiting “fellowship with apostates or those who compromisingly fellowship with apostates.” We reaffirm our commitment to Biblical-historical Fundamentalism, and acknowledge that God’s Word teaches separation personally and ecclesiastically.

And recognizing our accountability to God Himself we hereby covenant to pray earnestly one for another that our ministries be characterized by sincerity, purity and servanthood.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we diligently search the Scriptures and pray that God keep us balanced in our practice of Biblical Separation so that we will not needlessly divide the Body of Jesus Christ;

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that while God gives us breath we will earnestly contend for the faith, build up ourselves in the most holy faith, pray in the Holy Spirit, keep ourselves in the love of God, and look for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life (Jude 3,20,21).
